DAN THE AUTOMATOR-Bombay The Hardway (Motel Records-1998)

Great album of songs that sample Bollywood soundtracks from the 70's. Originally this album was credited to DJ Shadow and Dan The Automator, but according to DJ Shadow this is not the case. (Read more here.) After learning about this, I appreciate Automator even more, because I always thought the concept/creativity of this record was "above par." Anyhoo.... enjoy this, because this thing has long been out of print, and is getting scarce.

Check out Coffee-Cola Song. I still haven't figured out if this has been sampled yet, and by who, but if not, folks have been sleepin'!

Helio Matheus-Eu Reu Me Condeno 7" (RCA-1973)

"Eu, reu, me condeno"........ It's close to impossible to get this song out of your head. "Catchy" is an understatement.
If you dig the Brasilian music, then this is essential. Seriously.

Trojan Skinhead Reggae Boxset (Trojan-2002)

Really great compilation of some early Reggae. Fun for the whole family...

(Skinheads you ask?? Yes, Skinheads. The first Skinheads were the polar opposite of what most people think of Skinheads today. They were just drunken British youths, who embraced the style and music of working class immigrants from the West Indies, hence the Reggae. They were not Nazis or Fascists. The Visitors-Neptune (Cobblestone-1972)

I love this album. A little while back, my HD crashed and as a result, I sort of forgot about this album and how much I liked it. One of my favorite jazz albums. Jazz is a broad term, so to avoid any confusion, and for the "less informed" this has been considered "Spiritual Jazz." Sort of corny if you ask me, but then again what do I know? I'm no critic, or philosophizer.

▪ Neptune
▪ Naima
▪ Reflections
▪ China
▪ Pisces
▪ Pat´s Tune

One interesting fact about The Visitors, is that the main members of the group were Earl and Carl Grubbs, who just happened to be cousins with Juanita Naima Grubbs, ex wife of Mr. John Coltrane. Apparently, he gave them lessons when he first started to date their cousin.
