Spencer Doran-Puzzles (Female Fun-2005)

This is a really good instrumental Hip Hop album with some "Ill Ass" samples and breaks. I don't know much about this guy, cause there's not a lot of info on him out there. What I do know is that he's from Northern California. He's done some really good Sadat X remixes on Female Fun Records (which is the label this release is on). He plays in some experimental type band called the Cloaks. And it seems like he has some popularity in Japan. But aside from the trivial details, this album is really good, and I'm surprised it hasn't received more attention. If you dig instrumental hip hop, breaks, and samples etc. etc., then this is for you. Don't sleep on this one.

Word. Good to know. I was able to find his Cloaks stuff on iTunes, but as far as his hip hop records I didn't see too much out there. There was a bunch of Japanese stuff, but that was about it. Not too sure if releasing the album in the US would trigger some sampling conflicts or what.
